The Benefits of Wearing Clip-on Earrings

Let's start with an easy one! Everyone can wear clip-on earrings, whether you have tried earrings and they don't work for you, or you don't want to get your ears pierced, or if you just want something simple to add to your outfit.

That is why I wear clip-on earrings!

Many people think that clip-on earrings might hurt and that they will have to take them off within an hour or two. But the clip-on earrings I wear are comfortable enough to wear all day.

Do you think that someone will notice that you are wearing clip-on earrings and not real earrings?

Well... besides the fact that clip-on earrings are real earrings, no one has ever noticed or asked me if I am wearing clip-on earrings.

People also think that clip-on earrings are just for costume jewelry and that they are large and clunky. This is not true because I have seen many small clip-on earrings that are hardly noticeable as clip-on earrings.

Watch out though because there are some bigger clip-on earrings, that look like they might be costume jewelry so check the size before you buy a pair.

They are easy to wear too, and only take about a minute to put on both earrings.

They are easy to put in and wear.

The Cons of Wearing Clip-on Earrings

They hurt. Some brands out there do!
People might notice that you are wearing clip-on earrings. (I will tell you how to pick ones which look less like clip-on earrings down below.)
They may look like costume jewelry. Pick smaller simpler ones to get around this.

Of course, when talking about the pros and cons of clip-on earrings, it brings up the question of why did I pick to wear clip-on earrings instead of regular ones?

Why do I Wear Clip-on Earrings?

Okay. Storytime!

I did one time get my ears pierced and I loved them until the problems started. They never healed even though I cleaned my ears with the solution they gave me and then with homemade solutions after the solution from the store ran out.

After struggling for a year to try and get my ears to heal, I took them out.

A year later, I got my first pair of clip-on earrings.

Maybe someday I will try getting my ears pierced again, but for now, I am perfectly satisfied with the clip-on earrings that I have.

Clip-on Earring Brands I Would Like to Try

I am going to be totally honest with you. In reality, I am actually quite new to wearing clip-on earrings, but I wanted to share my experience with them with you and a brand that I am loving right now.

I have not tried these brands, but they look good, and I am planning on trying them out sometime. When I do, I will add on to this post with more clip-on earring brand reviews.

Claires

Claires was actually where I got my ears pierced. It totally was not their fault that my earrings didn't work out because I am probably allergic to certain types of metal. You probably knew that they sell earrings, but did you know that they also sell clip-on and magnetic earrings too? I would like to give their clip-on and maybe even their magnetic earrings a try sometime.

Pretty Smart

These earrings from Pretty Smart are also another option for people who can't wear earrings because they are like clip-on earrings, but they have a clear clip, so they look just like regular earrings.

They are also hypoallergenic because they have no metal on them. A bonus for people who have tried metal earrings and they are allergic to them. These might also work for you if metal clip-on earrings irritate your skin.

Those are two brands that I am looking into trying sometime, but now I want to tell you about the brand that I am wearing right now. I find them really comfortable too!

The Clip-on Earrings Brand That I am Liking Right Now

I have two pairs of clip-on earrings from the brand 1928 and you can buy them right from their website or you can buy them like I did from Kohls.

The pearl clip-on earrings are slightly bigger than the smaller rose ones. The clips on the rose ones are also smaller making them a little tighter to wear at first.

What I really like about both these pairs of clip-on earrings is that they are not noticeable as clip-on earrings. The clips on the earrings are big enough so that they look like they have small hoops.

4.5 STARS - PRICE

I really like these earrings because they are not super ornate, which is a problem when you are buying clip-on earrings. The simple design is perfect for wearing for everyday use, which is what I wanted them for.

These earrings are comfortable to wear because the clip is not too tight. You may have to wear them for a while first though before they are comfortable enough to wear all day. I wear these earrings practically all day now because they are comfortable enough to do so.

I would give these earrings 4.5 stars and not 5 stars because when I first got these clip-on earrings the pearl broke off when I was taking them out for the first time. It was easily fixed with a little bit of glue though and now they are as good as new!

Rose Clip-on Earrings

5 STARS - PRICE

I really like these earrings because they are small, and they don't look like costume jewelry. They are perfect for everyday wear and when I wear them, I usually wear them all day.

The only downside about these earrings is that because they are roses, they can get hair stuck in the roses. I usually wear my hair up or mostly up when I wear earrings though, so this has not been a problem for me.

Do you not know where to start when buying a pair of clip-on earrings?

Below I have some guidelines which you can use to buy clip-on earrings, or these guidelines can be used for regular earrings too.

What to do When Buying Clip-on Earrings

Buying clip-on earrings is a tough decision because you don't want to buy ones that hurt your ears, break easily, or don't fit well.

Use the tips below for buying your next pair of clip-on or regular earrings.

1. Pick a Brand

First, decide on a brand. Read a few posts about clip-on earrings and look around to see what other people are saying about their favorite brands. Pick the brands that look the best. If you don't know what to look for, you can type into Google, "Favorite Clip-on Earrings" or "Best Clip-on Earrings Brand". Make sure you read at least five posts, so you have a good idea of what brands are best.

Make a list of 5-20 brands you want to look into.

2. Read Some Reviews

Next, read some reviews on the brand and see if the brand has good reviews. If the brand gets not so good reviews, then go back to step one and pick a new brand to look into.

Don't just look at the reviews on the store's website. See if they sell on other places like Amazon.

3. Pick a Pair of Earrings

Once you have found a brand that you like, then the fun begins. Pick a pair of earrings from that brand and then make sure that you read the reviews on that specific set of earrings.

Just because the earrings are all the same brand doesn't mean that their earrings are all made the same. Some could be cheaper or easier to break and others the color could come off easily.

Pay special attention to the size of the earrings and what they are made out of.

4. Try the Ones You Like on in the Store

If you aren't sure whether or not you will like them. Go to the store and try them on. Wear them for around twenty minutes to see if you like them and to see if they fit well and do not pinch.

Look at yourself wearing them in the mirror and decide if you will actually wear them that much and if they are worth the price. I usually wait until there is a sale! :)

5. Buy a Pair or Two

I recommend buying two pairs because then you can see whether or not if the brand is a good one or not. If you just buy one pair, then you can't really tell whether it is the earrings that are bad or the brand.

6. Don't Limit Yourself

Don't limit yourself. Try all different types of earrings for people with non-pierced ears. Try magnetic ones, metal free ones, or something else. New types of earrings are always coming out, so don't be afraid to try a new type of earring.

Try out different brands too! Maybe you find a brand that you think you like and so you wear the earrings for a while and then your friend gives you a pair of clip-on earrings, and you realize that the earrings that you thought were comfortable actually aren't that comfortable at all.

How to Make a Vision Board + How It Will Help You Reach Your Goals

There's an old adage that says, "fail to plan, plan to fail." That quote is attributed to Benjamin Franklin. I think we can all take a page out of his book by doing some planning for our futures.

You are probably thinking that I should have posted this at the beginning of the year (I'm posting this in May lol) because that is when everyone is creating their vision boards and making their goals for the year to come. Am I right?

But why?

You should always be creating new goals, planning for new dreams, and creating the life you want to live.

So why would you want to only create a vision board at the start of the year when you can constantly change your vision board to reflect what you are trying to achieve?

Today, we'll be jumping into everything you could want to know about making a vision board!

What is a Vision Board?

Of course, we need to start at the beginning. You may have just stumbled on this post, and not even know what a vision board is.

But a vision board is pretty self-explanatory. It's a board that shows you what you visualize your life to look like in the next few months to the next few years.

It's a representation of what you want your life to be!

Vision boards often contain pictures, stickers, and mantras. To sum it up, vision boards are fun to make and pretty decor items!

The Benefits of Making a Vision Board

You might be thinking, "okay, great, but how will putting a few stickers and pictures on a board actually help me?"

So, for the vision board nay sayers, below are a few of the reasons why you should make a vision board.

Vision boards are a visual representation of your goals. Your vision board will remind you of your goals every time you see it, which is hopefully often!
Creating a vision board will help you put into "words" what you want out of life. It will help you find what direction you want to go.
Your vision board will remind you what is important to you, and what matters.
Your vision board will act as a source of inspiration when you are feeling stuck in life.
If you have a 5-year or 10-year vision board, it will direct you as you set your goals for the year.

Those are five great reasons to create a vision board, and if you aren't convinced yet, then sorry, I can't help you.

When you have a vision board, it will help you to know what you want to achieve next, or to inspire you to finish the goal that you are working on now.

So many people think that as long as they are setting goals then they are going to be able to complete them.

But what motivates them to finish their goals?

Your vision board doesn't have to be big. It will still motivate you to keep on going. I used to keep my vision board in my planner, and I loved flipping through my planner to go to that page to add a sticker, or to add a new dream to it.

Let's get right into how you can make a vision board step-by-step!

How to Make a Vision Board Step-by-Step

1. Gather Supplies + Decide on a Medium

First things first, you need to decide whether you want to make a digital vision board or a paper vision. I've made both, but making vision boards on paper are more fun!

You can always make a digital vision board if you aren't that creative or feel more comfortable with digital, and then print it out later.

Canva is my one stop shop for everything digital design! Give it a go if you want to make a digital vision board. They have tons of templates, so you are sure to find something you like!

Just looking at the vision board templates makes me want to create a new digital vision board!

Ok, now it's time to talk about making a paper vision board. You'll want to gather all of your supplies. I recommend grabbing the following things.

Pen + pencil
Big piece of cardstock or cardboard
Laptop + printer
Stickers
Markers
Washi Tape
Glitter glue (I sprinkled some of this on the last vision board I made!)

You can also make your vision board in a planner or bullet journal. After you have all of your supplies, it's time to get started!

2. Find Inspiration

It's always a good idea to get a little bit of inspiration before starting on a new creative project. I don't have much to say about this, except for that Pinterest is a great source. (Give me a follow while you are there!)

And you can always get inspiration from the pictures in this post! 😊

I know I've mentioned this technique before (sorry, long-time readers!), but I also like looking at the fonts on Creative Market because they have so many pretty ones!

Just type the text you want to write into the preview text box, and then you can write it on your paper in the font.

For the paper vision board I created shown in the images, I used Maison de fleur by Peach Creme. It's a gorgeous font, by the way!

3. Find + Print Out Pictures

Now, it's time to find pictures! I generally just use my own pictures, and various pictures I find on the internet. If your vision board is for personal use, it should be fine. Don't quote me on that though. I'm not a lawyer.

If you can get your hands on actual print magazines, good for you!

Otherwise, I generally print out my images in black and white because I think it's more aesthetic, and it's more likely to fit my color scheme.

Speaking of color scheme, let's talk about it.

4. Pick a Color Scheme + Fonts

You might want to create a vision board that looks like mine, so let me give you a few design tips for an aesthetic vision board!

Pick two fonts (Creative Market is great for this!)

One cursive
One Serif, San Serif, or non-cursive handwriting

For a color scheme, I generally like to use black and one other color, but you can use up to three colors, and still get a pretty aesthetic looking vision board.

Pastels are a great option!
You can also try neutrals.
Or opt for the same color, but in different shades.

My vision board might not be your style, so try out whatever you want, and remember to have fun!

5. Decide What Things to Include on Your Vision Board

Should I have mentioned this before telling you to print out pictures? Probably, but it's better late than never, so here we are.

I have made a very handy list of questions that you can ask yourself. They are listed in the next section. You may want to include "things" in the following categories.

Personal Development
Career/Education
Religion
Family/Friends/Relationships
Health
Hobbies
Inspirational Quote
Life Mantra

Now, it's time to put it all together!

6. Getting Things on the Page

I like to start my vision boards by placing all the images on the board and rearranging them until I find a cohesive look that I like.

Then I start gluing down each picture and adding decorative elements around it.

After that, I write down all of the categories, quotes, etc.

And then, I add the finishing details, which might be a piece of washi tape, or a sticker to tie everything together!

It'll probably take you a few sittings to finish up the whole thing! But after it is finish, decide where you are going to hang it up so you can see it every day.

The vision board that I just barely made, I'm going to hang up on my wall in my college dorm once I get back to school!

Things to Put on a Vision Board

Vision boards often contain goals, but they may be broader, undefined goals, especially if it is a 10-year vision board. Who knows what might happen in the next 10 years?

I don't like making my vision boards that specific. I like my vision boards to be broad because they are just a general guideline of how I want my life to be going, and then I set very specific goals each year to help me stick to the path that's shown on my vision board.

Below are areas of your life, you may want to address on your vision board. Under each category there are questions to help you come up with ideas of things to add to your vision board.

Think of these questions in terms of the timeline of your vision board. If you are doing a five-year vision board, you would ask yourself, "What will my perfect morning routine look like in five years?

General/Personal Development

What your current life is like versus what you would like it to be like.
What is your perfect morning routine?
What is your perfect evening routine?
What makes you feel successful in life?
What is a quote that makes you feel inspired?
What is your life mantra?
Where are you living?
What does your house look like?
What type of car do you own?
Do you have any pets?
What goals have you already reached?
What style of clothing do you wear?
What do you look like?
What habits do you have?
What new qualities do you have?
How do you learn?
How many books have you read?
What awards have you achieved?
What new skills do you have?

Career/Education

What is your dream career like?
What is your desired salary?
Are you going to college?
Are you going to graduate from college?
What college are you attending?
What is your college major?
Have you done any certifications?
Have you taken any courses?
What does your office look like?
What does your job location look like?
What company do your work for?
Are you going to start your own business?
What do you do day-to-day at work?

What old hobbies do you still make time for?

Should I Only Have One Vision Board?

Nope! You can have as many as you need. Say for instance if a project is big, then you could have a separate vision board just for that project.

I made a new vision board just last week because it is a bigger one to go on my desk and it looks pretty cute and minimalist at the same time, so it works as a piece of decor.

If you need more than one vision board around your house, to remind you of your goals, then go for it. :)

My goals are always changing, and if I just had one vision board, then it wouldn't work.

Below are some ideas on different vision boards you can try making.

A yearly vision board

Divided into quarters helps you to be more productive!
Divided into months, so you know which goals you want to complete when

A quarterly vision board

If you have a lot to do, or your business sets quarterly goals, then this might be perfect for you.

A monthly vision board

If you are extremely busy and you love being artistic, then you might want to try one of these because you get to make a new one each month.
Try adding a different theme to each vision board!
If your goals are mostly short-term goals, or if they are constantly changing then this might just be the vision board for you.

A lifetime vision board

Think about everything you want to achieve in your life, and then add it to this board.
Remember to add some inspiration too!
Perfect for if you have a lot of long-term goals

A project vision board

A project vision board can help to break down a big task into smaller pieces.
For instance, if you were going to start a business, you might make a vision board just for your business with all of your hopes and goals for your business.

You could even take a picture of your vision board or to scan it, and then upload it as your laptop or phone background, so every time you turn on your laptop or phone you see it.

How I Set Up My Vision Boards

I want to give you a quick overview of how I set up my vision boards to help you gain some inspiration for your own. You can see a picture of my most recent vision board below!

This vision board is my five-year plan.

I have a section for my career (writing), religion, travel (I want to do a study abroad for school), family, health (dance + running), and other (dogs + hobbies).

Are you always trying to be more productive on the weekend, and then on Monday, you realize that you weren't very productive at all? You want to relax, but you want to relax productively by doing something you really enjoy, instead of endlessly scrolling on social media, or watching hours of TV. Then when Monday rolls around, you feel unfulfilled because you wasted your entire weekend. Let's get out of this trap!

10 Things to do This Weekend to be More Productive

So how do you be more productive on the weekend?

Today, I have a few tips for you to be more productive on the weekend and if you want to be more productive throughout the week, then you can read 8 Ways to be More Productive This Week.

Being productive over the weekend is super important because it is when you have a little bit of time off, to get your house back in order and your life running smoothly. Plus, it is a great time to relax productively, and if you are productive over the weekend, then you can have more time for yourself during the week as well. So, it's a win-win situation either way!

If you aren't being productive over the weekend, you will feel tired and you will feel like your schedule is dragging you down and that your to-do list is a mile long... and that you never get anything done. Sound right?

So let's be more productive this weekend! Here are some actionable tips you can start using!

10 Things You Can Do This Weekend to Increase Your Productivity

1. Get Some Sleep

I had to include this as the first tip because if you don't get some sleep after having a hard week, how productive are you going to be on the weekend?

Yes. I don't think that you will be very productive if you don't get enough sleep. You especially need this tip if you have vigorous work hours and you do not get enough time to sleep during the week.

With that being said, you should try to stick to your usual wake-up time. If you have to go to bed earlier to get more sleep, so be it. No one can be very productive if they sleep in until 11:00 on the weekends. Your morning hours are precious so use them wisely!

Go to bed at an early hour on Friday night, so you can wake up at the same time you do on the weekdays. This way your internal clock won't have to readjust when Monday rolls around.

Besides, when you sleep in on the weekends, do you actually feel more rested? I usually feel just as tired if I sleep in more than I need to! 😂

2. Get Dressed

I know some people on the weekends like to relax and just stay in their pajamas all day, and maybe you can be productive if you stay in your pajamas, but how productive will you feel if you are in your pajamas?

How likely are you going to be to run the errands and finish your to-do list if you stay in your pajamas all day?

Not that productive. That is what I think so too. :)

This doesn't mean that you have to give up comfort. If you want, the weekends are the days where you can wear whatever comfy clothes you own. Just don't stay in your pajamas!

3. Eat a Nutritious Breakfast

Now I am not a health expert (not even close lol), but I think that if you skip breakfast, then you will feel tired during the rest of the day.

Get some energy in the morning by having a quick breakfast, even if that's just a smoothie or a bowl of berries with oats. Go for something healthy for extra bonus points!

4. Exercise

Exercising helps me to feel more productive and it is a great thing that you can do over the weekend if you don't have much time to exercise during the week.

Instead of sitting down on your couch and watching TV, you can get some energy, and feel better about yourself by doing a quick workout or going for a run.

I currently get around seventeen to nineteen hours of exercise every week, and you can find more time to exercise too. Exercising is also a great mood booster!

5. Drink Some Water

If you don't drink water, then you will become dehydrated, so this tip goes along with number one about getting more sleep. How productive are you if you are tired?

Put yourself first on the weekends by taking care of yourself, and you'll be able to then get more done.

6. Plan for the Week Ahead

What better time to plan for the week ahead than on the weekend?

This is a productivity and planning blog, so I couldn't leave this one out. I like to plan my week on Sunday afternoon when I don't have much going on, and I'm starting to feel excited about the new week ahead, or in some cases dread, if I know I have a ton to do for the upcoming week.

I'm a big fan of bullet journaling because of the flexibility and creativity offered with the system, but you should find a planning system that works for you. If it works for you, then you should use it and it doesn't matter what system other people are using!

On the weekend, you can pull out your planning system, and write in your tasks for the week ahead, do some decorating, or create a new layout.

Planning for the week ahead is also a great way to relax too and find your creative side!

7. Meal Planning

I am sure that you want to be healthy during the week... (Me too!) but how are you going to be healthy, if you don't have much time to make your food, and if it takes you 30 minutes to figure out what you are going to eat.?

The great thing about meal planning is that you can do it while you have your planner or bullet journal out. You can knock off two of the things on this list at one time! What's not to love about that?

This might take a good chunk of time, but it is so worth it. You can find the recipes for each meal you are going to make, and then make a grocery shopping list of the items you don't have. If you have extra time, you can also do a little bit of meal prep.

8. Plan Your Outfits

If you never know what to wear, then try planning out your outfits on the weekend, so you don't have to make those horrible last-minute decisions, which lead you to just wearing a copy of the outfit you wore yesterday.

Then as a bonus, you can get out the clothing you are going to wear and fold each outfit individually so on weekdays, you already have all of the clothing you need in one place. You might have cubbies for each outfit or have dividers in one of your clothing drawers for each day of the week. It will take less time to get ready in the morning, so you will have more time to do what you want, or more time to sleep in. :)

It's your choice. You can also plan your outfits for the week when you are planning in your planner for the week. Batch those tasks together, so you can get more done!

9. Clean Your House

Some of us probably actually dread the weekend because it is the time when we have to clean our houses. Yeah, I don't blame you.

Who wants to spend their weekend running around cleaning, scrubbing, vacuuming, and picking up messes that you didn't make?

Did you raise your hand?

I am sure that you didn't. :)

If you do a little clean-up every day, then you won't have as much to do over the weekend. It's something to think about.

10. Relax

This is probably actually one of the most important tips on this list. If you never relax on the weekend, then you will never get some time off to do the things that are most important to you, and you will never catch up.

Of course, relaxing is different from being just plain lazy, so make sure that you don't get stuck in the trap of only relaxing every single week and not finishing your to-do list.

So, if you don't get a chance to do a bunch of the other things on this list, then at least try to take some time off to relax, so that you can start the week off on the right foot! :)

And just one last tip, try to use technology less over the weekend, so you can spend more time with the people you care about!
