Productive Pixie: November 2019

I am excited about my newest wardrobe addition! With winter coming up, I need something to cover my head, and while I could wear a jacket with a hood, I wanted something to pair with my peacoat. :)

New Wardrobe Addition: Chic Beret

And so, I bought a beret. I love how it looks. I already thought of a few different pieces I want to wear it with. I think that this beret would look cute with...

Boots (Lace-up, Ankle, Knee High)
Casual Dresses
Dressier Coats (Jean Jacket, Peacoat, Trench Coat)
Ballet Flats

These are a few of the items in my wardrobe I am thinking about wearing my new beret with. I also think a side braid or curled hair would look super chic with a beret.

About the Beret

I had to look for a long time to find this beret. I knew I wanted to find a beret on Amazon so that narrowed down the search a little bit. There are a lot of berets on Amazon though and they all got mixed reviews.

One day, I was reading a blog post and there was a link to a similar beret that the blogger was wearing so I clicked through, and it was the beret which I ended up buying. At the time I clicked through it only had four and five-star reviews, but now it has some lower ones.

It can be bought for under fifteen dollars which I think is a pretty good deal for a hat. I am not sure whether it is 100% wool or not because it just says the composition is wool so the beret might have some other type of fiber in it too.

The hat fits well and will not fall off my head, but it isn't too tight either, which makes me happy. A hat that is too tight will make your head hurt every time you wear it!

Do you sometimes wonder how many shoes you should have? Do you have twenty-five pairs of shoes in your closet, when you only wear five regularly? Maybe it is time for you to figure out how many pairs of shoes you actually need. This post will tell you the main shoes you should have in your closet and then you can decide for yourself which of the other pairs of shoes in your closet you actually need.

I know how easy it is to want more cute shoes. Should you buy red flats or pink flats? You add both to your cart. Well, some of your outfits will only look cute with the red flats and some will only look cute with the pink flats so you may as well just buy both. Does this sound like you?

Let's get right into the post. These are just my opinions of what shoes are the most important, and so if you love a certain type of shoe and it is not on this list, then add a comment and let me know what type of shoe style is your favorite.

Essential Shoe Styles for Every Closet

These shoes are listed randomly! My casual sneakers are not more important than my high heels. :)

When thinking about what shoes to buy it all comes down to your lifestyle so don't think that you need to buy a pair of ankle boots if you are absolutely certain you will never wear them.

These are just general shoe styles. I am not going to say "buy this certain shoe" or "buy those shoes" because that is not super helpful. What if those shoes aren't sold anymore or if you aren't a fan of the shoe style or color. I think that this list of shoes will help you have more of a variety in your shoe closet. How many of these shoe styles do you already have in your closet?

1. Casual Sneakers

Casual sneakers are so important! I wear mine three to four times a week and they are super comfortable. Sneakers come in so many styles that you are sure to find a pair (or two!) that you like. White is always a good choice because it matches with everything even though they do get dirty quickly.

The shoes in the picture above are my white Converse and they have lasted for around three years now and they are not too dirty, so I am pretty happy about that. :)

Casual sneakers are great to have in your closet because you can just throw them on and go wherever you need to.

2. Sandals

Sandals are always a good idea to have. When you are going to the pool, you won't want to ruin another pair of your shoes. I don't wear my sandals regularly, but it is all up to you how much you like to wear sandals.

The pair in the picture cost around ten dollars! You can buy a chic pair of sandals for cheap and then you will have something to wear to the pool and to the beach. :)

3. Boots

What can I say? I had to add boots to this list! You can dress up or down any pair of boots so that they are suitable for almost anything. While it is up to you how many pairs of boots you buy, I would recommend that you don't buy too many in the same style. Do you really need five pairs of ankle boots?

The ankle boots in the picture above have lasted for a long time. (I got them a little bit after my Converse in case you are wondering.) I love wearing them because they dress up every outfit I wear.

Something else you can do is have one pair of dressier boots and one pair of more casual boots. I also have a pair of combat boots that are my more casual boots.

4. Flats

Flats are great because you can wear them for every day and for dressy occasions. They are a classic wardrobe staple and I think they are super chic. :)

Flats can be worn for school, to the office, grocery shopping, and the list goes on. They make your outfit a little bit dressier so if you want to take your outfit up a notch, then just slip on a pair.

Plus, did I mention how many styles flats come in? You can buy flats in so many colors and styles so just pick a design you like and buy them. Make sure they are comfortable though. You don't want to buy a pair of flats that make your heels hurt.

Flats are also relatively cheap so you can buy a pair without breaking the bank.

5. Heels

Last but not least on this list is a pair of heels. High heels are perfect for dressy occasions, and they make you a little bit taller too. They come in many styles, and you can pick the heel height and type and how comfortable they are. Comfortability (Is that even a word?) is a big factor in which shoes you should buy!

Plus look at how cute the box is for the pair of heels I bought. (This should not factor into which pair of shoes you should buy.) :)

But you still have to admit that the box is pretty cute!

The temperature you live in should also play into what pair of shoes you buy. If you live somewhere where it is cold almost the entire year, then a pair of sandals are not going to be a good idea.

Essential Shoe Styles for Every Closet

So which shoe styles are you favorite? Do you love wearing boots and heels or are you more of a sneaker and sandal type of person?

Either way, it is always good to have something perfect for every occasion. If you only wear sandals, then buy a pair of high heeled sandals for your high heels. You can do the same for boots too.

I can't believe it is already November! The year is going by so quickly! For this month's theme, I decided to go with a cherry blossom floral pattern because November is my favorite month of the year. I also picked cherry blossoms because I had not done a floral theme yet, so I wanted to try it out. :)

Plan With Me November Bullet Journal Layouts

My attempts at cherry blossoms made me quite pleased and they are super easy! All you have to do is draw a branch with a pencil and then add pink (or whatever color you want your blossoms to be) dots at varying intervals along the branch.

The layouts this month are much the same as last months because I like the set-up. The only thing I changed is the designs.

Bullet Journal Supplies Used

For these layouts, I used all of the usual supplies I like to use. Do you use any of the same supplies I use?

A Black Sharpie Pen - I use my sharpie pen for almost everything in my planner. If you see anything in black, it was probably done with my handy black sharpie pen, unless it is calligraphy. :)

A Salmon Crayola Super Tip Marker - I bought the Crayola Super Tip 50-pack recently, and I love them! I use them for pretty much all of my spreads because they can be used for practically everything with their special tip that can be used to draw thick and thin lines. I don't know what color this marker is because they don't say on the side, which is a minus for some people, but it doesn't bother me. You can read my full review of these markers here.

A White Gel Pen - White gel pens are super handy to have. They can be used to white out small mistakes. Even though they don't entirely white out the mistake on some colors, (Like darker colors) they still make it less noticeable.

A Mechanical Pencil - I draw out most of my layout in pencil before I use pen because it eliminates most of the mistakes I would make and then I can decide if I like how the page looks before I draw it in with pens and markers. This does take longer though so if you don't make many mistakes or large mistakes, then you can save time by drawing it out in pen.

Tombow Pen - I use my Tombow pens (I have two. One with a soft tip and one with a hard tip) for any calligraphy you see done in a black pen. I only used this to write the "be grateful" saying on the third page.

A Ruler - Now this technically isn't a ruler because it is really just a small strip of laminated cardstock, but it can be used to draw lines, and I don't need markings on it because I use dotted pages. I like using it because it is flat, and thin so it is easy to store. Plus, it has a pink watercolor pattern on it, so it is cute!

Bullet Journal Monthly Layout Cover Page

For my cover page this month, I did pretty much the same thing as last month except for I added more room for the goals so I can add more if I want to. The cherry blossoms are super easy to make. Just draw a branch in pencil (a line or two will do) and then add dots at intervals along the branch. Make sure to leave some bits of the branch empty and to clump up some of the flowers. That is it! :)

The font I picked to write November in reminds me of fall and for the goals subheading I used the salmon/pink Crayola Super Tip to write it in caps and then I used a black Sharpie pen to write in cursive on top.

Monthly Bullet Journal Calendar Layout

For the heading, I used the same font as on the cover page. To make it fancier I added the twenty-nineteen subheading below it. I added a notes box below that because I had some extra room, so I will see if I will use it this month. Then I can decide if I want to add one for next month's layouts.

For the days of the month, I used the same design as last month by not having a full box, just a stripe above the space for writing. I think it looks more minimalist. I did add a weekend column because then I only have to add six columns instead of seven!

I used a Tombow pen for the quote at the top and then I used the Crayola Super Tip to add some more color underneath.

Also in the picture is my Sharpie pen. I have been using it for over a year now and it is still going! I bought a backup pack of three just in case, but I didn't think that it would last this long, so I am very pleased with the quality of it. I use it almost every day so if you are looking for a pen to bullet journal with, this one will last for a long time. :)

Bullet Journal Tracker Page Layout

For this page, I did simple black headings. Then I added more cherry blossoms to tie-in the theme. I think it will look pretty when I start writing on top of the cherry blossoms. Then for the bottom December heading, I did the same style I did for the daily squares on the calendar page and on the cover page for the goals subheading.

I am excited to use these pages especially because I have a very busy November. What theme are you planning to use this month?
